Stephanie is a composer, saxophonist/vocalist, educator, conductor, and audio/video artist—with an MA in Music Composition from Mills College, BA in Music from Miami University, and a Certificate from The Recording Workshop.
She has composed for soloists and ensembles, including chamber group, string, band, choir, computer, and dance. She is specifically interested in using psychoacoustics and spatialization to promote the musicality of objects and environments and writing pieces accessible to different musical levels and ages.
She is a member of the Sleight Ensemble and has performed with groups such as Oak Wind Sax Quartet, Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble, Mills Performing Group, Portato Portato, K Band, lucky dragons, and Lauren Baines Dance/Theatre. In addition to performing as a classical and contemporary musician, she also performs as a solo artist and singer-songwriter, accompanying herself with saxophone, clarinet, flute, ukulele, steel pan, keyboard, field recordings, and electronics.
Stephanie has taught lessons for over 15 years for multiple instruments and interests including alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet, flute, voice, ukulele, steel pan, piano, conducting, composition, audio, and video.
She has also acquired years of experience as an audio/video engineer, editor, and designer for music performance, video, video games, dance, and theater. Most recently, she has worked on various audiovisual projects for the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music and Ensemble for These Times.
